Why does Bank Usahawan not provide services to start ups?

Firstly, Bank Usahawan was established to support MSMEs operating 12 months. The eligibility on the amount of funding received from Bank Usahawan will be assessed based on the past 12 months of activity.

Bank Usahawan is categorized as a relatively new bank, therefore the Bank requires high-quality portfolio with low risk. However, the suggestion will be considered in the near future.

What are the factors that would contribute for an application being rejected?

If the applicant provides incomplete financial documents, the financial assessment will not show the accurate financial statement

The collateral provided by the applicant should be of the same value as the financing amount. Should the value of the collateral provided be insufficient then the Bank will consider the guarantor.

As a financial institution, Bank Usahawan is responsible to comply with BDCB Regulations which require a business to have a net profit of around 60 % – 40%.

Why does Bank Usahawan require collateral/guarantor?

Collateral or guarantor is a type of security for the Bank should any undesirable events occur from the client such as failing to commit to monthly payments.

Bank Usahawan would want to gain confidence in the financing provided to the client and therefore the Bank would retain the collateral through the period of financing to ensure that the client will make monthly payments as scheduled.

What type of business does Bank Usahawan provide financing to?

The Bank provides financing to any businesses that comply with Syariah Principles except businesses that are involved in the oil and gas sector with the aim to diversify the business industry in Brunei Darussalam.
